🌍 When the Earth Shakes, Heaven Still Speaks

A devotional reflection on Mindanao’s 7.4 earthquakes and God’s unshakable presence

In the span of two years, Mindanao trembled twice—once in December 2023, and again in October 2025. Both earthquakes registered a magnitude of 7.4, shaking cities like Cagayan de Oro and Davao, stirring fear, and awakening prayer.

But beyond the fault lines and aftershocks, I believe God was whispering something deeper.

🔢 The Meaning Behind 7.4

In scripture, 7 is the number of completion and divine perfection. It marks the fullness of God’s work—creation finished, promises fulfilled.

4 often represents the earthly realm—the four corners of the earth, the winds, the living creatures that surround the throne.

Together, 7.4 becomes a sacred echo:

“God’s perfect order is touching the earth. He is awakening the corners of creation to return to Him.”

Two quakes. Same magnitude. Same island.

Not coincidence, but confirmation.

🕊️ A Call to Intercession

When the ground shakes, we are reminded of our frailty.

But we are also invited into faith.

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth gives way…”  —Psalm 46:1–2

These tremors are not just geological—they are spiritual invitations.

To rebuild not just bridges, but altars of worship.

To restore not just homes, but hearts that trust again.

🌺 Mindanao Will Rise

From Hinatuan’s coast to Manay’s shore,

From Cagayan’s sidewalks to Davao’s prayers—

Let every cracked foundation become a testimony.

Let every tremor become a trumpet call to intercede.

We declare:

Though the earth shakes, we will not be shaken.

Though the mountains fall, we will lift our eyes to the hills—

From where our help comes.

🙏 Closing Prayer

Lord, in the shaking, steady our hearts.

In the trembling, awaken our worship.

Let Mindanao rise—not just in strength,

But in surrender.

Let Your perfect order touch every corner of our land.

Amen.
